Poem
Illumination
I am not sunshine.
I am storms.
the blinding flash
of lightning across skies.
illumination.
I dance to thunder’s drum.
a wilder beat.
dangerous and untamed.
dark’s love,
illumination.
I am not ever-present.
not constant rays,
but pulses.
strokes, and beams.
illumination.
I radiate,
turning shadows to art,
undressing their robe
when you need it most.
illumination.
I am fire.
a tool of evolution.
like warmth of rum
and revolution’s
new thoughts.
illumination.
I am not a lighthouse.
nor its keeper.
but the luminous waves,
calling through the fog.
illumination.
I am shade by day
to be night stars,
leading the way
as you navigate seas.
illumination.
while those that stand
at crossroads, lost,
beyond the bend.
I shine beacons home.
illumination.
when you need to see
in storms as wild as me,
I burn.
illumination.
you will go.
forth.
illuminated.
and I,
I will shine
all the more,
brighter.
for I am
Illumination.
